U.S. Highway 62: Eddyville to Grand Rivers - Kentucky | Drive America

Join us as we cruise 12 scenic miles along U.S. Highway 62, connecting the small towns of Eddyville and Grand Rivers in western Kentucky. This stretch isn’t just another backroad—it’s a relaxing drive through a unique corridor that sits right between two of the region’s most beloved lakes and recreational playgrounds. We start off at the intersection with US-641, just outside Eddyville, turning west onto US-62 to launch our journey toward Grand Rivers.

The route almost immediately introduces us to the charm of Lyon County. Heading southwest, we quickly reach the major interchange with Interstate 24 and Interstate 69—a handy access point if you’re coming from Paducah or Nashville. Not long after merging onto US-62, we roll into the small city of Kuttawa. If you’re looking for a spot to stretch your legs or snap a few photos, Kuttawa is a perfect place for a quick detour. We recommend a stop at the Kuttawa Harbor Marina and the nearby overlook, where you’ll catch panoramic views of Lake Barkley. This area is a hub for boaters, anglers, and anyone who wants a lakeside bite or a peaceful moment by the water. The community here is friendly, and you’ll find a few mom-and-pop diners worth checking out before you hit the road again.

Back behind the wheel, we continue our westward journey, paralleling the narrow stretch of land that separates Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake—a region known as the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. Even though this particular segment of US-62 doesn’t dive directly into the heart of the recreation area, you’re just minutes away from one of Kentucky’s most popular outdoor destinations. As we enter Grand Rivers, keep an eye out for signs pointing toward the north entrance of Land Between the Lakes. Grand Rivers itself is a charming little town, popular with both boaters and RVers, and home to the famous Patti’s 1880’s Settlement—a great spot if you want to extend your adventure or grab a slice of pie.

For those who love road trips with a side of exploration, this drive is the gateway to countless outdoor activities—boating, hiking, fishing, or just relaxing by the water. Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or just passing through, US-62 from Eddyville to Grand Rivers is the kind of drive that shows off why Kentucky’s lake country is so popular
