Interstate 25

Interstate 25 (I-25) is a major north–south corridor running through the heart of the American Southwest and central Rocky Mountain region. Spanning approximately 1,062 miles, it begins at the Mexican border in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and travels north through Colorado and Wyoming, ultimately ending at Interstate 90 in Buffalo, Wyoming. I-25 serves as a critical route for both freight and passenger traffic, linking major urban centers, military installations, and scenic byways along its path.

In New Mexico, I-25 connects key cities including Las Cruces, Truth or Consequences, Socorro, Albuquerque, and Santa Fe. It closely follows the Rio Grande for much of its route, offering glimpses of the state’s rugged desert terrain and cultural landmarks. As it enters Colorado, the highway climbs into the Rockies, passing through Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and Denver — some of the state’s largest and most influential cities. The Colorado segment of I-25 is known for heavy traffic and ongoing modernization projects due to rapid regional growth.

Continuing into Wyoming, I-25 travels through Cheyenne, Casper, and smaller towns before merging with I-90 near Buffalo. This portion of the highway offers wide-open views of rolling plains and distant mountain ranges, making it a serene contrast to the busier sections farther south. Overall, I-25 is not just a transportation artery — it’s a journey through diverse landscapes, rich history, and dynamic communities from the Southwest desert to the high plains of the North.
