Westbound on President Clinton Avenue in Little Rock – Arkansas

Westbound on President Clinton Avenue in Little Rock - Arkansas | Drive America

Join us for a quick but iconic mile-long cruise through one of Little Rock’s most recognizable downtown corridors: President Clinton Avenue in Little Rock. This short but scenic route runs right through the heart of the River Market District, offering a blend of history, culture, and urban riverfront views. Though only a mile in length, it packs a surprising amount of visual interest and local character into every block.

We begin this westbound drive just beneath the shadow of Interstate 30, where President Clinton Avenue emerges from the east side of the River Market. This part of downtown is anchored by revitalized warehouses, modern lofts, and some of Little Rock’s best-known tourist attractions. Just a few feet from where we start is the Clinton Presidential Center, although the actual entrance sits on a side street to the southeast. From here, the road invites us westward into a corridor where history and redevelopment meet.

As we continue down President Clinton Avenue, we pass directly through the River Market District, one of Little Rock’s major entertainment and dining hubs. To our right, the Museum of Discovery offers interactive exhibits for families and curious minds, while Riverfront Park stretches out on our left, running alongside the Arkansas River. The park itself includes sculptures, walking trails, and a riverfront amphitheater that hosts frequent events in the warmer months.

This corridor also offers easy access to the Little Rock Central Arkansas Library System’s Main Library, as well as a collection of restaurants, cafes, and local shops. For pedestrians and cyclists, the nearby Arkansas River Trail provides a beautiful way to explore the region, connecting downtown Little Rock with North Little Rock via the Junction and Clinton Presidential Park bridges.

Approaching the western edge of the River Market, we come to the intersection of Cumberland Street and East Markham Street, where this short drive ends. This is the natural terminus of President Clinton Avenue, but it also marks the eastern edge of West Markham Street and opens up access to the Historic Arkansas Museum, Little Rock City Hall, and the rest of downtown’s civic and commercial core.

Though this stretch is brief, President Clinton Avenue is often the first impression visitors have of downtown Little Rock—especially those arriving from I-30 or visiting the Presidential Library. Its walkability, cultural attractions, and scenic setting make it a standout urban corridor worth experiencing, whether by car, bike, or on foot.
